The Flowing Kimono

The Flowing Kimono

The influence of the Japanese kimono is very obvious in this work that can either be worn as a back or neck piece. It takes its inspiration from a 19th Century Japanese print "A Woman With a Poem Card" by Yashima Gakutei.

The line drawing was adapted to include my own personal symbolism. If you look closely the patterns on her kimono and her hair ornaments are similar to the line drawing I have adopted as my logo at the top of the page. The logo itself is a drawing for the Plum Blossom Bracelet.

This piece was created as a figurative piece in contrast to my usual abstract and geometric style. She is made in gold and blue titanium, line drawings inlaid into the sheet titanium, polished and oxidised silver, freshwater pearls and sumptuous scarlet knotting cord.
