Curled Silver Ring
An elegant swirl of hand-forged sterling silver decorates this curled silver ring, swiftly moving curls reflect the inspiration behind this piece, the sound of a distorted electric guitar. I am synesthetic, a neurological trait that allows me to see sound as moving colours, shapes and patterns. My jewellery is all made from little snippets of sound translated and made solid. This is a unique ring, there will only be one like this.
Inspired by Music
I absolutely love music and am synaesthetic, which is a neurological trait where my senses cross. Therefore I have a strong visual impression of shape, colour, movement and sometimes texture when I hear music. This curled silver ring is inspired by what I see when I listen to an electric guitar. Electric guitar looks like swirling silver, greys and whites and is represented here by the sterling silver.

Recycled Silver
Mining silver is an environmentally invasive process, so I use recycled silver in all my work. The sterling silver I used to make this curled silver ring comes from old and broken silverware and cutlery. Consequently, I can eliminate the need for newly mined silver in my work. I melted a piece of old silverware down. Then I hand forged the resulting ingot of molten silver into this curled silver ring. This ring has a full UK Hallmark which guarantees it is sterling silver.
