These Silver Blade Hoop earrings are sold individually to give you the flexibility to have one, a pair or more if you have multiple piercings. They are an ancient kind of earring archaeologists have found examples at sites all over the world. This earring style will add a real edge to your look. I hand-forged these Silver Blade Hoops in sterling silver with a gorgeous hammered texture and crackling down the sides. Then I blackened the silver and gave them a burnish polish for a high shine while retaining the textural detail.
Inspired by Music and My Synaesthesia
I am synaesthetic which is a neurological trait where my senses cross. Therefore I have a strong visual impression of shape, colour, movement and sometimes texture when I hear music. These Silver Blade Hoops are directly inspired by what I see when I listen to electric guitar. Electric guitar looks silver to me, like lightning made of mercury. As a result, the textures in these Silver Blade Hoops reflect electric guitar playing made visible by my synaesthesia.

What Is It Made Of?
Mining silver is an environmentally invasive process, so I use recycled silver in all my work. The sterling silver I used to make these Silver Blade Hoops comes from old and broken silverware and cutlery. Consequently, I can eliminate the need for newly mined silver in my work. I melted a piece of old silverware down. Then I hand forged the resulting ingot of molten silver into these Silver Blade Hoops.
