Silver T-bar Twist Necklace
This Silver T-bar Twist Necklaceis unique. The hand-hammered sculptural swirls give it a sophisticated and visually satisfying look. The whole necklace has been blackened then given a burnish polished finish to highlight the beautiful surface texture. I have hand forged it from one piece of recycled silver, and as a result, it is a twisting design like the guitar playing that inspired it. This Silver T-bar Twist Necklace hangs from an unusual chain recovered from an antique necklace. It has an easy to do up T-clasp at the front as an innovative detail.
Inspired by Music and Synaesthesia
I am synaesthetic, which is a neurological trait where the senses cross. Therefore I have a strong visual impression of shape, colour, movement and sometimes texture when I hear music. This Silver T-bar Twist Necklace is inspired by what I see when I listen to the incendiary guitar playing of Matt Bellamy from Muse. As a result, the shapes in this silver necklace are little snippets of electric guitar music made visible by my synaesthesia. Recycled Silver
I recycle the silver I have used in this Silver T-bar Twist Necklace from old and broken silverware and cutlery. Consequently, I can eliminate the need for newly mined silver in my work. I melted a piece of old silverware down. Then I hand forged the resulting ingot of molten silver into this carefully crafted necklace.
