Twisted Silver Necklace
This twisted silver necklace is deeply textured and full of meaning. Blackened with a burnish polished finish which highlights the texture. I have hand forged it from one piece of silver, and as a result, it is a twisting design like the guitar playing that inspired it. This twisted silver necklace hangs from a matching rope chain with an easy to do up S-clasp. I never make the same thing twice; consequently, this silver pendant is a one-off piece.
Inspired by Music and Synaesthesia
I am synaesthetic, which is a neurological trait where the senses cross. Therefore I have a strong visual impression of shape, colour, movement and sometimes texture when I hear music. This twisted silver necklace is inspired by what I see when I listen to music. As a result, the shapes in this silver pendant are little snippets of electric guitar music made visible by my synaesthesia. Hence this silver necklace twists like crackled and distorted electric guitar playing. Recycled Silver
I recycle the silver from old and broken silverware and cutlery to make my jewellery. Consequently, I can eliminate the need for newly mined silver in my work. I melted a piece of old silverware down. Then I hand forged the resulting ingot of molten silver into this carefully crafted twisted silver necklace.
